Fiberglass insulation properties are provided by air between the fibers.  The insulating ability will diminish when the fibers fill with cool air which will severely impact performance.  Because spray foams are air barriers it resists air flow which will make it less susceptible to this problem. Fiberglass insulation is significantly cheaper than spray foam insulation, but it is also less effective, especially in extremely cold conditions.
